Miami's Biltmore Golf Course To Debut in October Following $5 Million Restoration Miami's Biltmore Golf Course To Debut in October Following $5 Million Restoration |
On October 1, 2007, the Biltmore Hotel, one of
the top golf resorts in South Florida, will
unveil its newly restored golf course following a comprehensive enrichment
program. Built in 1925, the classic 18-hole, par 71 course was the creation of
the legendary Donald Ross, one of the most revered golf course architects in
the history of the game.
Studies of original plans and vintage aerial photographs are being used to ensure that the original Donald Ross design is both preserved and enhanced. All greens, tees and bunkers will be re-built and grassed to contemporary standards offering the highest quality playing conditions on a consistent, year-round basis. The net result will be the best of both worlds - a classic Donald Ross Course maintained in state-of-the-art contemporary condition. Over $5 million has been committed to the carefully conceived enrichment plan. The Biltmore has retained renowned golf architect and Donald Ross design expert Brian Silva for the project. Silva has a particular expertise in working with historical courses and will closely control all aspects of the program, which also includes new environment friendly free-span bridges, plus restaurant, pro shop and club house enhancements.
"Many consider the architects of the 1920s to be the best, with Ross clearly the master of the era. The Biltmore is making a major investment in heralding the history of the property by restoring this classic course," said Brian Silva. "When we are finished, those who love the game will regard the Biltmore golf course as one of the best classic golf experiences available anywhere."
